Effective cleaning of spray gear and tanks between chemicals is critical for avoiding costly crop harm, or under-spraying due to clogged nozzles or lines. Both are issues UPL NZ Ltd.’s Adjuvant Product Manager David Lingan is all too familiar with.

He recommends All Clear 2X which he says will out-perform ordinary tank cleaners on the widest range of agricultural chemicals, even carfentrazone-ethyl – which is notoriously difficult to shift. “All Clear 2X has a three-way action, decontaminating, cleaning, and neutralising. It’s the only way to remove even the most ‘“sticky’ chemistry.”
Cleaning sprayers with the right tool
David says on dedicated spray rigs, used for the same chemicals, cleaning is recommended at the start and end of the season. But for sprayers used across a range of chemistry, cleaning should be regular and rigorous. “Cleaning should be done often, especially when spraying susceptible crops like beets and other crops not tolerant of acid herbicides.”
Use of All Clear 2X also reduces the risk of efficacy-impacting issues including blocked lines and filters which can result in under-application. Crop protection chemicals can bind to the inside of a spray tanks, hoses, nozzles and filters. In many cases, simply flushing with water will not remove them. They can also be mobilised by subsequent spray operations, risking crop damage.
