Agronomists up and down the country play an integral role in crop protection management, soil health, disease prevention, and ultimately, in food production and food security for our nation.
At UPL, we know how important agronomists are to land management and healthy, high-yielding crop production. We want to support you in every way we can.
To do that, we prioritise investment in new products. We focus on research and development, on lab tests and field trials. And we make sure we’re always here to offer our expert help and advice whenever and wherever we can.
There are many different ways we partner and support agronomists like you, including:
Bolstering farm programs with our leading Natural Plant Protection products
UPL’s Natural Plant Protection (NPP) range is a core focus of our business, and one that’s already having a massive impact for agronomists across the country.
With pressure on conventional products continuing to grow through both loss of efficacy and increased registration scrutiny, agronomists are looking for alternatives.
"Our NPP product range is becoming ever more important to increase agronomists armoury on farm", says Robert Jamie, UPL Technical Specialist.
They’re designed to complement and replace traditional products that are lost to new restrictions or resistance and bolster programs on farms.
And UPL is ahead of the game with our research and development in this area, always looking to the future to support the changing needs of agronomists.
Investing in real-world research at our dedicated trial site
That forward-thinking attitude is clearly showcased through the exceptional investment we’ve made into our Shray Hill Trial site.
It’s a one-of-a-kind field trial site you can visit in person to see the results of our latest trials for yourself and ask any questions of our scientific team.
We’re running an extensive range of trials year-round, and hold regular open days for agronomists. On top of that, as part of our commitment to OpenAg, we share that trial data so you can make sure the products you’re recommending will be effective for your growers.
Sharing the very latest insights and updates every month
Knowledge sharing is always at the front of all our minds at UPL. Our technical updates are sent every single month to help you focus on the key issues at hand and take advantage of our product knowledge to adapt your current programs.
We also create tailored presentations for agronomists every spring and autumn to discuss existing (and potential) challenges, share key trial data, offer advice and recommend new products to support their needs.
Providing a personal point of contact for agronomists in every region
Building a rapport with the agronomists we work with is extremely important for us at UPL, and it’s why we’ve also invested in the development of a full technical team across the UK.
Every region has their own dedicated technical specialist, on hand at the end of the phone to help you with any questions or queries you might have.
Ask us anything, whether you’re looking for reassurance on the right tank mix or advice on best application timings.
You can also get in touch via our website too.
Attending a full range of trade shows up and down the country
We love meeting agronomists to learn about your experiences and requirements, which is why we’re focused on attending as many trade shows as possible - across every sector - from horticulture to potatoes, cereals to soft fruit.
We aim to have a stand at every event, so we can showcase our leading products and share our advice on the ground.
Conducting regional trials in partnership with distributors and agronomy groups
Alongside our Shray Hill site, we also partner with distributors and agronomy groups all around the UK to conduct regional trials and research across a wide range of products.
Whatever the test, no matter how big or small, it gives us invaluable data and insights that we share directly with you and use to support our future product development.
Supporting and building the tools to inform on-the-ground application
Our commitment to sharing the most reliable, most helpful information extends to our support for key industry tools too.
We’re platinum sponsors of The Fight Against Blight report from the James Hutton Institute (who we regularly collaborate with), which helps growers stay on top of the blight risk in their region.
And we’ve also developed our very own Blight Forecast App, which gives agronomists and growers the insights you need to more effectively plan spray timings and crop protection programs.
Prioritising innovation, effectiveness and consistently high-quality products
Above all, at UPL we support agronomists through our expertise. We’re constantly forward-thinking, committed to investing in new research, new product innovations and new approaches for the industry.
We’re focused on getting maximum impact from our products, ensuring they’re always available and always as effective as possible.
Whatever products you need - and whatever challenges you're facing with your crop protection recommendations to growers - UPL is here to help agronomists.
