With harvest just around the corner, now’s the perfect time to make sure your grain stores are all thoroughly cleaned and treated for storage pests. An application of TALISMA EC fabric treatment can help you both cure current infestations and prevent future pests - especially if you follow up with FUMI-CYP smoke pot fumigation. The benefits of TALISMA EC TALISMA EC is a highly effective insecticide that can be applied to the fabric of your grain store building to target current infestations and prevent all key storage pests post harvest. You can also apply it directly to grain, offering protection for up to 12 months depending on your application rates. TALISMA EC contains cypermethrin - to target pests by both contact and ingestion - and the synergist Piperonyl butoxide - to enhance the effects of cypermethrin and help prevent resistance. Its excellent curative activity - effective within 3 hours of application - provides longer protection than alternatives. You’ll benefit from up to 3 months of protection against storage pests from building structure application alone. Applying TALISMA EC to building structures Before treating, make sure all grain stores are empty, clean of dust, debris etc Dilute TALISMA EC based on surface type For porous fabric, dilute 60ml in 5L water / 100M2 For non-porous surfaces, dilute 30ml in 5L water / 100M2 Leave store closed & sealed for 48 hours Ideally leave the store empty for 3–4 weeks after treatment If required, you can place grain in the store just 48 hours after treatment. There’s also no grain withholding period. Admixture Applications using TALISMA EC TALISMA EC can also be applied as an admixture to the grain, providing excellent curative control and up to 12 months protection against grain storage pests. For 12 months of protection, apply 2L TALISMA EC diluted in 98L water per 100 tonnes of grain For up to 6 months of protection apply 1L TALISMA EC diluted in 98L water per 100 tonnes of grain Again, there’s no grain withholding period. Any treated grain can be sold and processed immediately. But don’t use treated grain for seed. Maximising grain store pest control with FUMI-CYP When applying TALISMA EC to your grain stores, you’ll want to make sure you target ALL pest infestations. Many stores have refuge areas that insects crawl into, making them almost impossible to reach with traditional pesticide application, so you’ll also need to fumigate. Using FUMI-CYP smoke pots will drive insects to treated areas. They contain cypermethrin in a ready to use smoke bomb. It agitates all those inaccessible pests and encourages them to move to treated areas. Each pot will treat 350m3 and should be used as a follow up treatment to a fabric application of TALISMA EC, before the grain store is refilled. How to using FUMI-CYP Smoke Pots Use 48 hours after applying TALISMA EC Close all vents and ensure all gaps are sealed Evenly space the appropriate number of pots (1 pot/350m3) throughout the grain store, making sure each is placed on a non-combustible surface Light the wick using a match or lighter (starting furthest away from the exit) After checking combustion and the correct emission of smoke, leave the premises immediately Keep the area sealed to prevent re-entry of persons or animals for at least 12 hours Ventilate building thoroughly for 1-2 hours after treatment is complete Learn more about TALISMA EC and FUMI-CYP.
