Innovation to Reduce Herbicide Rates by 45%

Introducing L-Tek Technology. When Less is More

At UPL Corp, sustainability isn’t a buzzword. It’s what powers our innovation so we can enable farmers to be as productive as possible and help minimize the impact they have on our planet. It drives us to keep making things better. That includes finding new technologies that can help farmers use less herbicide, like glufosinate, while ensuring its effectiveness. Enter L-tek technology by UPL Corp.

Glufosinate is an effective herbicide that provides a great alternative to products like glyphosate. It’s a chemically synthesized racemic mixture of the natural compound l-phosphinothricin. UPL Corp has developed a unique formulation process, called L-tek technology, which takes out the d-isomer of the mixture. That makes it the purest active ingredient (AI) in the market, resulting in a use rate that is 45 percent lower than traditional products.

This purity is unmatched in the industry. With products powered by L-tek technology, a 500-acre field could be covered with 92 gallons of product versus 168 gallons of traditional glufosinate. And a 200-hectare field could be covered with only 440 litres instead of 800 litres of traditional glufosinate.

Our first product in the market, Lifeline® Mega, powered by L-tek technology, has launched in Paraguay, with anticipated expansion to the rest of Latin America coming next.

Products by UPL Corp powered by L-tek technology are the next evolution of weed control. With best-in-class manufacturing capabilities, UPL Corp makes it even easier for farmers to achieve cleaner fields, while maintaining their operations for the next generation.
